Western to Purchase Renewable Energy Certificates for Federal Agencies

Western Area Power Administration is issuing a request for proposals for renewable energy certificates, or RECs, for itself and a National Aeronautics Space Administration field center. RECs represent the environmental attributes of energy generated by renewable resources such as solar, wind, biomass or landfill gas, physically delivered into the electric grid.

Western seeks firm, fixed, per-megawatt-hour unit price offers through the Renewable Resources for Federal Agencies program beginning November 2015 to support NASA's Ames Research Center, as well as firm, fixed, per-megawatt-hour unit price offers beginning August 2016 to support Western's renewable energy goals.
