BUSINESS NETWORK FOR OFFSHORE WIND
Vineyard Wind Financial Close Important Step for Domestic Supply Chain Development

September 16, 2021

Vineyard Wind announced today (Sept 15) that it secured financial close on its first project off the New England coast, becoming the first U.S. commercial scale offshore wind project to reach this milestone. Vineyard Wind will begin activating supply chain contracts for the construction and operation of this 800-MW wind farm. The company announced onshore construction will begin this fall and offshore construction in 2022, and the wind farm will begin delivering power in 2023 to hundreds of thousands of Massachusetts homes.

The following statement can be attributed to Liz Burdock, president & CEO of the Business Network for Offshore Wind:

"This is a critical step for the creation of a domestic supply chain as U.S. businesses will now watch this industry come to life before their eyes. Offshore wind will tap into American manufacturing capability, engineering expertise, and skilled labor to build a brand-new industry that grows local economies while helping the nation achieve its renewable energy goals. Vineyard Wind's financial closure means contracts will now begin flowing to local businesses sparking investment and job creation. Now is the time for U.S. businesses to get themselves trained and networked so they can successfully join the growing supply chain and help build this new industry. It is imperative we support these businesses and work to localize a supply chain ensuring we can achieve our ambitious renewable energy goals."
