Wind Installation in Campbell County Will Provide Enough Renewable Power to Serve 25,000 South Dakota Households
Con Edison Development Continues to Build Its Wind Power Portfolio

July 13, 2015

Consolidated Edison Development, a New York State-based developer and operator of large-scale renewable energy projects, recently completed an agreement with Campbell County Wind Farm Holdings to acquire, construct and operate a wind power project on property owned by a group of local farmers in Pollock, South Dakota.

The 95 MW (AC) wind farm, currently under construction, consists of 55 1.7MW GE wind turbines.  The wind farm will soon provide enough electricity to power approximately 25,000 homes, a significant portion of the region, for a year.

The project, which will generate approximately 400,000 MWh of power annually, is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year.

Electricity generated from the facility is contracted to the Basin Electric Power Cooperative under a 30-year power purchase agreement.  The wind farm is interconnected with the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) transmission system.

"We're pleased to begin construction on the Campbell County site, which will provide enough electricity to power a significant portion of the region's energy usage," said Mark Noyes, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ConEdison Development. "ConEdison Development is happy to be working with the local community and looks forward to a continued relationship with the Basin Electric Power Cooperative and WAPA.  ConEdison Development is continuing its leadership in the development of our country's renewable capabilities."
