Bruce Power, Plug'n Drive, Baywest Nissan and the Municipality of Kincardine have officially opened an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station in the refurbished parking lot to the east of Queen Street, which serves downtown Kincardine. 
"By collaborating with Bruce Power on this environmental initiative, we are further increasing the infrastructure that makes Kincardine such a desirable destination for residents, visitors and people who are considering relocating to Kincardine," said Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie. "Electric Vehicles will have an increasing presence on our roads in the coming years, so providing a charging station in the heart of the municipality's largest centre makes the downtown core that much more welcoming."
Rob Liddle, Bruce Power's Manager of Community Relations, said that as EVs become more common it is important the electricity that powers them comes from a clean source like nuclear.
"Bruce Power provides 30 per cent of Ontario's energy while producing zero carbon emissions," Liddle said. "It is inevitable that emissions from the transportation sector will decrease as the viability of EVs as a primary mode of transportation rise. By investing in EV infrastructure and producing clean, reliable energy, Bruce Power is helping to keep clean the air we breathe."
The Kincardine station is the third of eight Bruce Power has collaborated to open with environmental, municipal and educational institutions. Others have been unveiled in Port Elgin, Southampton and Wroxeter so far.
