Navantia Rolls Out First East Anglia ONE Transition Piece

July 10, 2017

The first of forty-two transition pieces to be built by Navantia for Iberdrola's 714MW East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm is ready for a paint job.

Iberdrola hired the consortium of Navantia and Windar Renovables to build and deliver forty-two jacket foundations and piles for the UK wind farm.

Navantia is building the three-legged jacket foundations at its facilities in Fene, Spain. The 126 piles will be built by Windar at its facilities in Avilés.

The works will be carried out during 2017 and most of 2018.

Navantia will also build the offshore substation for East Anglia ONE.

The wind farm will consist of 102 Siemens 7MW turbines and the electrical substation which are scheduled for full commissioning by the end of 2018. The remaining 60 jacket foundations will be built by Lamprell.

East Anglia ONE covers an area of about 300 km2 and is located approximately 45 km southeast of the town of Lowestoft.

Iberdrola is also developing the East Anglia TWO and THREE wind farms which are in the feasibility study phase.
