Gamesa secures new order for the supply of 84 MW to the Iberdrola-Neoenergia consortium in Brazil
The company will install 42 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines at three wind farms located in Rio Grande do Norte

January 30, 2015

Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has secured a new order* from Força Eólica do Brasil (FEB), a consortium made up of Iberdrola and Neoenergia, for the supply of 42 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines (84 MW) at three wind farms located in Rio Grande do Norte, in north-eastern Brazil.

Gamesa will supply, transport, install and commission 15 G114-2.0 MW turbines at the Santana 1 wind farm, 15 turbines of the same make at the Calango 6 facility and another 12 at the Santana 2 complex. These 42 turbines, which will be made at Gamesa's factory in Camaçari (Brazil), are due for delivery during the third quarter of 2016, while the wind farms are slated for commissioning the following quarter.

The G114-2.0 MW is a new turbine model designed to yield more power at lower cost at low and medium wind speed sites, which is particularly suitable for the high-wind and low-turbulence conditions encountered in Brazil. The order backlog for this product stands at over 800 MW to date.

Gamesa enjoys a solid business relationship with the Brazilian Iberdrola-Neoenergia consortium, with which it has signed firm orders for the supply of 372 MW in total. The Calango complex stands out in this respect, as it is one of the country's largest: all five first phases (150 MW in total) are equipped with Gamesa technology.

Brazil, where the company has already established itself as one of the top turbine OEMs by market share, is one of Gamesa's priority markets in the short and near term.

*This order has been signed during the fourth quarter of 2014.
