TUCSON ELECTRIC POWER
Small Changes Help TEP Customers Seek Savings, Control Energy Use in 2026

February 6, 2026

Tucson Electric Power is encouraging customers to take simple steps today that can lead to real bill savings in 2026. By making small changes and considering options available from TEP, customers can feel more confident and in control of their energy use all year long.

"TEP customers are in charge of their energy use, so we want them to know how they can save on their monthly bills and benefit from several program options," said Denise Taylor, TEP's Director of Customer Service and Programs. "Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, so we support them with practical tools, helpful plans, and other assistance to help put them in control of their energy use."

Easy Ways to Use Less

Saving energy doesn't need to feel overwhelming. Even small adjustments can make a meaningful difference without disrupting your daily routine. Simple changes include:

  • Proper use of a smart thermostat, including setting it at 68 degrees in the winter, can help you save up to $180 on your electricity costs.
  • Washing full loads of laundry in cold water can save up to $70 each year.
  • Keeping the refrigerator door closed can help you to save up to $20 per year.

Taking Charge with Easy Payment and Use Plans

Everyone's energy needs are different, and TEP offers several tools to help customers better understand and manage their usage.

  • TEP's Pricing Planner can help you decide which plan might be a good fit for you. For example, Time-of-Use plans allow customers to save by shifting usage to lower-cost, off-peak times ideal for households with flexible schedules.
  • Budget Billing helps even out monthly costs, providing predictable bills year-round.
  • TEP e-Bill is a free service that makes viewing and paying bills simple and secure.
  • Auto Pay saves time and money by automatically paying your bill from your bank account to make sure you never miss a payment.

These programs and tools are designed to give customers more choice and more control.

Assistance Programs and Balance Management

TEP understands that life can change quickly, and unexpected challenges can make it harder to keep up with monthly bills. That's why we offer several programs to support customers who need extra help:

  • Payment Extensions - Customers who just need a little extra time to pay can request a payment extension through My Account using TEP's mobile app or by calling TEP Customer Care at 520-623-7711.
  • Payment Arrangements - Customers who are behind on their bills are encouraged to call TEP to discuss options for a payment arrangement. Customers placed on payment arrangements must pay the monthly installment amount plus their current monthly bills in full and on time. All customers are responsible for paying for all the energy they use.
  • Short-term Bill Payment Assistance - TEP cooperates with several community agencies to offer emergency bill payment assistance to customers through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and the statewide Home Energy Assistance Fund administered by Wildfire. Please contact these organizations directly to request assistance.

"We want our customers to know they're not alone," Taylor said. "We understand that life brings challenges, and keeping the lights on shouldn't be one of them."

Additional monthly bill discounts for qualifying customers and other forms of assistance are available. Details are available at tep.com/payment-assistance.
