As part of its ongoing commitment to helping customers across New Hampshire lower energy use and reduce bills, Eversource is bringing its award-winning Main Streets initiative to three New Hampshire cities and towns in 2026. Through Main Streets, Eversource will provide small business owners with direct access to energy efficiency assessments and available upgrades so that business owners can take control of their energy usage and costs.
"Small businesses are at the heart of New Hampshire's communities and local economies," said Eversource Director of Energy Efficiency Kate Peters. "Through our Main Streets initiative, we're helping business owners access energy-efficient solutions that make it easier to manage energy costs and operate more efficiently. These upgrades strengthen the business community and will help Granite State towns continue to thrive for years to come."
"Our shop has significantly benefited from working with Eversource through the Main Streets initiative," said Mary Winning at the Manchester Collision Center. "Improved HVAC systems and lighting have lowered our operating costs while creating a better work environment for technicians and allowing us to keep our focus where it belongs: our customers.
Events are taking place in this year's communities through the early summer, including:
- Manchester (May 18-29)
- Milford (June 15-19)
- Nashua (June 22-26)
Main Streets energy efficiency solutions start with a no-cost, no-obligation energy assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities for small businesses, such as LED lighting and controls, high-efficiency HVAC systems and other efficiency upgrades. Some improvements can happen on the spot at no cost to the customer while more involved projects, like the installation of energy-efficient motor controls, are scheduled for a future date. Through the NHSaves® programs, Eversource offers increased incentives for a range of energy efficiency improvements - up to 90 percent of project costs - and interest-free financing is available for any remaining costs.
Local licensed electricians contracted by Eversource will complete approved projects and ensure minimal disruption to daily business operations, and all high-efficiency products installed as part of this initiative include warranties for both materials and labor.
Any business in a community not scheduled for a Main Streets event this year that is interested in scheduling a no-cost energy assessment can do so by reaching out to their NHSaves utility partner.
For many small business owners, Main Streets might be their first introduction not only to business incentives but to residential energy efficiency programs as well. All New Hampshire residents - renters and homeowners - are eligible for NHSaves incentives, services and support that can help them improve their energy efficiency. The Home Energy Performance program is a great place to start, connecting residents with energy experts to conduct safety tests, recommend improvements and help customers better understand their home's energy use.
