Eversource and Lindt & Sprüngli (USA) Extend Long‑Term Energy Efficiency Partnership

June 12, 2026

Eversource today (June 11) announced the signing of their third consecutive three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lindt & Sprüngli (USA), extending a long-standing energy efficiency partnership through 2029. This renewed agreement builds on nearly a decade of collaboration that has helped Lindt & Sprüngli achieve substantial operational savings.

"For almost a decade, working with Eversource has enabled us to plan proactively and invest strategically in energy efficiency initiatives, delivering improvements across our operations," said Sarah Keller, Vice President of North American Sustainability at Lindt & Sprüngli. "Continuing this agreement shows just how committed both teams are to long-term energy efficiency."

"Through our partnership with Lindt & Sprüngli, we have seen firsthand how strategic planning, technical expertise, and sustained commitment can drive real progress," said Tilak Subrahmanian, Vice President of Energy Efficiency and Electric Mobility at Eversource. "Together, we're delivering energy savings that support local economic vitality while helping reduce emissions, improve system reliability and support long-term operational planning at the Stratham facility." Since Lindt & Sprüngli signed its first MOU with Eversource in 2018, the company has developed a comprehensive, data-driven, multi-year energy strategy that has resulted in significant energy savings. This approach has accelerated efficiency upgrades and improved reliability across the Stratham manufacturing campus.

Major achievements to date include:

  • 2018-2020 MOU:
    • Estimated annual savings: 3.5 million kWh
    • Actual annual savings: 6.1 million kWh, nearly double the goal
  • 2021-2023 MOU:
    • Estimated annual savings: 1.4 million kWh
    • Actual annual savings: 3.1 million kWh, more than double the goal
    • Equivalent to avoiding the greenhouse gas emissions that would arise from driving over 5 million miles in a gas-powered car: over 2,200 metric tons

These efforts have supported a wide range of facility upgrades including LED lighting conversions, chilled-water system improvements, heat-recovery projects, compressor and HVAC enhancements, and advanced digital controls, all of which boost operational efficiency while contributing to job stability and local economic activity. Now entering into its third MOU with Eversource, Lindt & Sprüngli will pursue strategic initiatives to achieve additional reductions in electric energy use - over 1 million kWh annually - between 2026-2029. These initiatives also align with Lindt & Sprüngli's 2030 Sustainability Plan, in which the Group committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. Lindt & Sprüngli emphasizes that collaboration, innovation, and strong partnerships like the one with Eversource, are essential to achieving its sustainability targets.
