IRENA and the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) are strengthening their cooperation at COP31, taking place from 9-20 November 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye.
The two organisations will jointly host the Global Renewables Hub, a dedicated space for showcasing solutions and fostering dialogue among policymakers, businesses, investors and civil society. The Hub will feature high-level dialogues and stakeholder discussions on scaling renewables, advancing electrification, strengthening power grids and mobilising investment to accelerate implementation globally and across regions.
Building on their longstanding partnership, IRENA and GRA will continue to strengthen joint efforts towards achieving the global commitment to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030, agreed at COP28.
Furthermore, a key focus will be advancing the COP31 Presidency of Türkiye's 35-by-35 Global Electrification Pledge, which aims to increase the share of electricity in global final energy consumption to 35% by 2035. Grounded in IRENA's World Energy Transition Outlook 2026, global electrification in transport, buildings and industry must rise, supported by the rapid expansion of renewable power, grids, storage and system flexibility.
Electrification powered by renewables can help cut emissions across end-use sectors while strengthening energy security, expanding energy access, and boosting economic competitiveness and opportunities. Through their continued partnership, IRENA and GRA aim to support the COP31 Presidencies of Türkiye and Australia in translating global ambition into implementation and practical action.
GRA is a founding supporter of Electrify Now and at COP31, GRA and IRENA will use the Global Renewables Hub to grow the coalition and look at pathways to turn its backing into national plans, investable pipelines and delivery.
