BC Hydro is opening a new electric vehicle (EV) fast-charge site near the Abbotsford International Airport.
The charging site is located at 1567 Mount Lehman Road. It has two 400-kilowatt chargers, which can add up to 100-kilometres of driving range to an average EV in about three minutes. There is also one 180-kilowatt fast charger.
Through power-sharing technology, each unit can serve two vehicles at once by splitting output. For example, a 400-kilowatt charger can supply two vehicles with 200-kilowatts each. This allows up to six EVs to use these three chargers at once. The chargers are equipped with CCS and NACS connectors to accommodate a wide range of EVs.
BC Hydro has three existing EV fast-charging sites in Abbotsford at the ICBC Claim Centre, University of the Fraser Valley Campus and EcoDairy. Together, these four sites provide a combined 32 charging ports.
