This week at our 35MW Menengai geothermal plant in Kenya, steam was successfully admitted to the turbine - an important technical milestone for Globeleq's first geothermal project during the functional and hot commissioning phase of the project.
Congratulations and many thanks to all who have contributed in getting the project to this stage.
The commitment, resilience and focus of our construction team and partners have brought us to this moment as we progress towards full commercial operation with the next phase of commissioning being grid synchronisation for load testing.
Introducing steam to the turbine is a crucial step in bringing Menengai online.
Together with other geothermal facilities in the area, this plant will harness the earth's natural resources to deliver clean, reliable baseload power to Kenya's national grid, and supporting the country's broader clean energy ambitions.
