Offshore wind industry welcomes environmental reforms to deliver better outcomes for nature and more clean power

Commenting on reformed environmental legislation for offshore wind farms published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) which comes into effect today (May 21),  the Offshore Wind Industry Council's Workstream Sponsor for Environment & Consents Benj Sykes, Ørsted UK Country Manager, said:

"By enabling a broader and more strategic range of options, the UK is taking a more outcomes-focused approach to marine compensation. Crucially, this is not about lowering environmental standards. It is about implementing a more effective, strategic approach that will deliver better outcomes for nature as we deliver the UK's Clean Power 2030 ambitions. Industry will continue to work closely with government, regulators, and environmental stakeholders to ensure these new approaches deliver real benefits for nature and the energy transition."
