Marine Renewables Canada (MRC) is pleased to announce its Board of Directors and Executive Committee for 2026, welcoming two new directors following its annual call for nominations.

This year's nominations process resulted in the appointment of directors filling Supplier seats, strengthening Board representation from companies supporting marine renewable energy development across Canada.
"This is an important year for Canada's marine renewable energy sector," said Elisa Obermann, Executive Director of Marine Renewables Canada. "As offshore wind advances from concept to reality and tidal energy continues its progression toward commercial projects, strong Board leadership is critical. Our Board plays a central role in shaping strategic directionand positioning the organization to deliver value for members. The experience and perspective represented around the table this year will directly support our ability to lead the sector through its next phase of growth."
New Directors
Richard Morykot is the Vice President of Strategic Development and Execution with the Atlantic Canada Bulk Terminal (ACBT) located in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He has more than 30 years of experience across the public and private sectors and earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Dalhousie). Richard has built a career working on complex infrastructure and environmental projects, with roles in consulting engineering, the Nova Scotia Public Service, and CBCL before joining ACBT. Through this work, he has contributed to major marine infrastructure projects, including those supporting the emerging offshore wind sector.
Cynthia Pyć leads IBN Environmental & Geomatics, an independent consultancy specializing in regulatory policy and permitting, impact assessment and non-technical risk-management. She is an environmental scientist and energy-sector leader with 30 years of experience spanning the United States and Canadian offshore and onshore renewable and conventional energy industries. Cynthia holds a Master of Science in Resources and the Environment and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Calgary, and is a published scientist in marine acoustics, Indigenous land use and Treaty Rights, and science policy. Her previous roles include Director of Permitting & Environment for RWE Offshore Wind Holdings, Director of Environment and Senior Manager Environmental Affairs for the Avangrid-Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners joint venture, and 15 years with BP Exploration and Production in Canada.
The new directors began their terms on January 1, 2026.

- Vice Chair: Anne-Marie Belliveau, Projectable Consulting
