As part of its ongoing commitment to helping more customers across Connecticut gain access to energy efficiency programs and solutions, Eversource is bringing its award-winning Main Streets program to eight Connecticut cities and towns in 2026. Through the Main Streets program, Eversource provides small business owners with direct access to energy efficiency assessments and available upgrades that help to lower energy usage and bills.
"In communities across Connecticut, our Main Streets initiative is helping small businesses adopt energy efficiency improvements that will make a meaningful difference in managing energy usage and bills," said Eversource Director of Energy Efficiency Steve Bruno. "By supporting small businesses as they get started on their energy efficiency journeys, we are helping local economies to thrive for years to come, allowing owners to reinvest in employees, customers, and their neighborhoods."
Main Streets energy efficiency solutions begin with an energy assessment by a certified specialist who helps each small business identify energy-saving opportunities. These upgrades can include weatherization, insulation, occupancy sensors, programmable thermostats, refrigeration controls, compressed air upgrades, lighting controls and more.
Eversource offers increased incentives for a range of energy efficiency improvements - up to 80 percent of project costs. On-bill financing for any remaining costs is available to qualifying customers. Local licensed contractors will complete approved projects and ensure minimal disruption to daily business operations, and all high-efficiency products installed as part of this initiative include warranties for both materials and labor.
For many small business owners, Main Streets might be their first introduction not only to business incentives but to residential energy efficiency programs as well. All Connecticut residents - renters and homeowners - are eligible for incentives, services and support that can help them improve their energy efficiency. Home Energy Solutions is a great place to start, connecting residents with energy experts to assess their home's energy performance, provide on-the-spot energy-saving improvements, and access incentives for energy efficiency upgrades to lower their energy bills.
Since launching Main Streets, Eversource has worked to deliver energy solutions to small businesses across the state. The 2026 Main Streets schedule is below, but any business interested in scheduling an energy assessment in another Connecticut community on a date not listed below can sign up here.
